Nirim, founded in memory of the late Navy Seals Sergeant First Class Nir Krichman, aims to be the leading high-risk youth village in educating for excellence. Nirim is located in northern Israel and houses 110 extreme at-risk youth between the ages of 14-18. Nirim implements wilderness therapy, which is a treatment strategy that provides challenging experiences in an outdoor wilderness environment. Wilderness therapy was developed abroad (England and the US) and was adapted to the Israeli environment by the Nirim team. It is the central means of triggering a dramatic breakthrough by instilling the values and tools needed for a youth to rewrite their life story.
