Comfort Kits for Children Escaping Domestic Violence

This project continues the legacy of Yishai Greenbaum z”l, a devoted clinical social worker who managed the domestic violence service in Lod’s police station.

Yishai saw that children escaping violent homes often spent long, difficult hours in police stations or welfare centers while waiting for shelter placement, with nothing to comfort or distract them. He dreamed of giving each child a backpack filled with games, art supplies, and small toys.

After Yishai was tragically killed while serving as a reservist during the Iron Swords War, his colleagues and SMILE brought his idea to life. Today, students from partner schools across Israel prepare the backpacks, which are distributed through police stations and social service centers to children when they need them most.
