Description

Access Israel, established in 1999, is a leading NGO working to improve quality of life and promote equal opportunity for the 1.8 million people with disabilities in Israel and their families. The organization supports all types of disabilities — physical, sensory, cognitive, and emotional — with the goal of ensuring full accessibility and inclusion in all areas of life, including transportation, employment, culture, and leisure.

The organization was founded by Yuval Wagner, an Israeli Air Force pilot who became paralyzed from the neck down following a severe accident in 1987. His personal journey gave rise to a national mission: to build a more inclusive and accessible Israel.

The “Day After” Project was launched to support soldiers injured in the October 7 war and beyond, as they transition from rehabilitation back to daily life. The project offers tailored workshops and in-person or digital courses that empower participants with tools and knowledge to cope with their new reality — from navigating accessibility and knowing their rights, to finding employment, social reintegration, adaptive sports, and assistive technologies.

These programs foster independence, reduce feelings of isolation and depression, and provide critical support for both the wounded and their families.
Because everyone deserves a fresh start — especially after a life-changing injury.
